    Default Migrating domains

    Hi everyone!

Am very new to Zimbra, and have been tasked by my new job to do a domain migration, so please bear with me if my questions sound noob.

There is a OpenSource edition of Zimbra setup for production use, and we need to migrate it from domain1.com to domain2.com, while maintaining all the settings/accounts etc.

What is the best way for this?
    How should I even begin?

    Thanks!

Make sure you take a backup before you do anything to your systems then read the instruction on zmprov renameDomain.

Thanks for the advice. Will be testing it on a test system.
Meanwhile, can you advise what I should backup, and how I should backup?

    Thanks!

For the Open Source version you need to stop ZImbra and backup the complete /opt/zimbra directory structure, there are various scripts in the Zimbra :: Wiki - take a look at the front page in the Backup section and pick one that suits you.

I just realise the user is running version 4.0.5 of Zimbra, and on RHEL 4.3
But they are not looking to do update.. so I guess I'm up for it...

Yes, that thread is applicable and also has the details of what's needed to backup (basically the /opt/zimbra directory structure).

it has been an interesting learning journey, but the client strangely decided to call it off.
But I'm going to put in time to learn more about zimbra, and hopefully achieving deployment for new potential clients.

I see Zimbra as a good alternative to Google Apps for what it can't offer, and vice versa.
A good tool to have in the inventory to sell

Thanks Phoenix for leading this newbie here
