Default [SOLVED] Stats again marked down in Admin console

    Hi,

After restart the Stats is marked down (X) in Admin console, all others services are Ok. At this time the 30 days disk stats seems no working. I seen the previous posts on the same subject but nothing fix it.

I run Release 6.0.7_GA_2473.DEBIAN5 DEBIAN5 FOSS edition and the script /opt/zimbra/bin/zmsyslogsetup doesn't exist anymore.

    Please help.

    Sam.

This is just a guess Sam and may have nothing to do with what you are experiencing, but I was having the same issue as you even after I applied all of the suggested fixes. I then by chance just happened to notice my time was always wrong on the server. Once I fixed that, my problem seemed to go away. I may have just gotten lucky though.

Ok, but now I'm afraid to restart/upgrade Zimbra, it seems that Zimbra is not very stable and my chief is not very happy by all these problems...

What is the real fix of this bug ?

As re the overall stability of Zimbra, we have found it's pretty good.

In this case if I understand you correctly, all of the end-user-facing functionality works and is stable. If you run "zmcontrol status" as the zimbra user all the services show as running, yes?

It is the administrator-facing functionality (stats) that is not working, and I appreciate that those red "X"s when you first log in to the Admin Console can be unsettling. They do seem to be a bit bigger than the nice blue checkmarks, but that may just be my imagination...

You say you looked at a number of threads already on this subject but you did not say specifically what you tried. As you know, there can be many causes for this and it is easier for us to help you the more specific you can be.

Let me therefore ask if you have checked the permissions on all of the /opt/zimbra/zmstat directories and contents?

    Hope that helps,
    Mark

    The stats are not running:

    Host zimbra.geismar.com
    antispam Running
    antivirus Running
    ldap Running
    logger Running
    mailbox Running
    mta Running
    snmp Running
    spell Running
    stats Stopped

The only thing that fix this problem before was restart the CRON /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmstatuslog every 2 mn

Let me therefore ask if you have checked the permissions on all of the /opt/zimbra/zmstat directories and contents?
All directories under /opt/zimbra/zmstat are onwned by zimbra:zimbra.

    Thanks for your help...

    OK, that's good info.

    Let's do this:

First, please confirm that your syslog daemon is running. Please post the output from running as root /etc/init.d/sysklogd restart

Next, please try running as the zimbra user the following command:

zmstatctl stop; zmstatctl start; zmcontrol status

    Let us know what happens.

    Hope that helps,
    Mark

I run Debian 5.0.5 and the command now is /etc/init.d/rsyslog restart and the output is the regular:

    Stopping enhanced syslogd: rsyslogd.
    Starting enhanced syslogd: rsyslogd.

Next, please try running as the zimbra user the following command:

zmstatctl stop; zmstatctl start; zmcontrol status
These commands restart well the stats, thanks a lot, I put this on our knowledge base

    Hope that helps,
    YESSS

    Thanks again.

Excellent! And thanks for marking the thread solved and updating me on how debian is now doing syslogging (it's hard to keep track of every distro's syslog setup--across different versions!)

    All the best,
    Mark
