Thunderbird should be set to use Port 587 with TLS (or SSL) and username/password. Note that your username is your full email address in Zimbra. That last might be your problem.

But this is a slightly different topic. We've moved from "how can I get Outlook to (correctly) fail" to "how come Thunderbird is (incorrectly) failing".

Hello I have a problem with this.

I am using Zimbra Server Release 8.0.4.GA.5737.UBUNTU12.64 UBUNTU12_64 FOSS edition.

It works perfect. I can send and recieve email through the built in web mail client. Its running with a ssl certificate and works fine with my domain. The problem that I have is that I am trying to configure my Moodle implementation so that it can send emails through an account of Zimbra (moodle@mydomain.com). I configured it with a GMail account and it worked fine, but I havent been able to make it work with my Zimbra Server.

Moodle asks for the following data.
    smtp server: zmail.credia.hn
    smtp security: ssl / tls
    smtp user: moodle@credia.com
    smtp passwd: mypasswdhere
    smtp session limit: 1
    no-reply adress:
    charset: UTF8
    newline character: LF / CRLF

If i run the command: zmprov getServer zmail.credia.hn | grep Auth , I get the following:

    zimbraMtaAuthEnabled: TRUE
    zimbraMtaAuthHost: zmail.credia.hn
    zimbraMtaAuthTarget: TRUE
    zimbraMtaAuthURL: https://zmail.credia.hn:443/service/soap/
    zimbraMtaSaslAuthEnable: yes
    zimbraMtaTlsAuthOnly: TRUE
    zimbraShareNotificationMtaAuthRequired: FALSE

Both Zimbra and Moodle are running on separate servers with their own public IP's.

    Greetings.
