I installed zimbra on a system that has 4 gigs of memory. I am the only person that uses zimbra. For some reason I see the application utilizing over 3GB of memory.
I did a zmcontrol stop and then started it back up. By then zimbra appears to only be utilizing 1GB of memory (which I still find to be a lot).
Is it normal for zimbra to utilize all of that memory? Could it be that zimbra actually allocates a certain amount of RAM so that it can function more efficiently?
I'm not really worried...I just want to make sure it's running the way its supposed to.
I have about 20 email accounts configured....but as I said...I am the only person that uses them. And I use them from one machine. So its not like I'm leaving accounts open from other locations.
What made me notice this was when I started to run a filter rule that was moving over 8000 emails from my inbox into a folder. The window seem to hang..... then a popup window came up stating that the server was slow and may be unresponsive (or some message like that)......But the emails did get moved correctly when I let it take its time for the process.
So I ran TOP on the server and noticed what was happening. I see zimbra utilizes many gigs of ram and the CPU was running high due to zimbra.
