Default Linux Fetchmail to zimbra users

    Hi,

I have configured the fetchmail in Linux to fetch the email residing in the external email server. Now my question is .....

How can I use the Linux fetchmail to fetch the emails into zimbra user inbox ?

    Thank you

You can read User Migration Wiki (http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?title=User_Migration), it's explain to use imapsync or pop2imap for migrating mails from a external server.

I am not clear on what exactly you are asking about.
You have configured fetchmail... have you actually "fetched" mail with your configuration? Does it work? Do you need to know how to fetch? Do you want to know a suggested method of fetching?

On my network I have a file named .fetchmailrc that is located at /root/.fetchmailrc (note the leading period on fetchmailrc!).

I am using an Ubuntu-dapper machine. You may need to place the fetchmailrc in either /etc or /etc/fetchmail... do a man fetchmail to see what you distro wants.

    The fetchmailrc file contains:
    ************************
    set daemon 300
    set postmaster "me@northidahoey.com"
    set bouncemail
    set no spambounce
    set logfile /var/log/fetchmail.log
    set no syslog

    poll our.mailserver.com
    proto imap
    timeout 120
    uidl
    user "me"
    pass "my-password"
    is me@northidahoey.com

    user "user2"
    pass "user2-password"
    is user2@northidahoey.com
    ****************************
Fetchmail is started at boot time, in rc2.d. So it runs as a daemon, polls our.mailserver.com every 300 seconds (5 minutes) for email for user "me" and user "user2". Email that is found is handed off to the localmachine (which is zimbra). The user me@northidahoey.com (and user2) must exsist within zimbra as user me@northidahoey.com/user2@northidahoey.com.

You could start fetchmail by hand; /etc/init.d/fetchmail and it would run as a daemon.

    Hope this helps

    Mike
