    Default Migration to Different Server

    Hello All,
We're looking to migrate from an existing zimbra server to a new one.

The servers are very similar, and we've tried to change as little as possible on the new OS. The only significant difference I can think of is that the IP has changed.

    Some info about the system:
    Zimbra: 6.0.7_GA_2483.UBUNTU8
    OS: 8.04.4 LTS

Last night, we tried this method: Moving ZCS to Another Server » Zimbra :: Blog

Unfortunately, we got this error upon multiple attempts:
Restoring existing configuration file from /opt/zimbra/.saveconfig/localconfig.xml...done
    Operations logged to /tmp/zmsetup.11152010-214430.log
    Running bdb db_recover...done.
    Running zmldapapplyldif...failed.
    Checking ldap status....not running.
Starting ldap...failed with exit code: 256.
    hdb_db_open: database "": db_open(/opt/zimbra/data/ldap/hdb/db/id2entry.bdb) failed: Invalid argument (22).
    backend_startup_one (type=hdb, suffix=""): bi_db_open failed! (22)
    bdb_db_close: database "": alock_close failed
I also realize that the blog post in question is over three years old and deals with zimbra 4.5, so it may well not apply.

Tonight, we're planning on trying this: Moving ZCS to New Server - Zimbra :: Wiki Specifically, the ldap export and import.

Can anyone offer advice on this? We're trying to use a rsync vs a backup for the bulk of the data because the transfer takes quite some time, and when using rsync we can just do a final sync right before the cut over.

    Is this a 32bit to 64bit move?

BTW, I'll move this to the correct forum as the Migration forum is for questions about migrating from other mail servers to Zimbra.

No, it's just a 32 bit to 32 bit move.
