Default Mac, Zimbra and setting mail.app on a Mac

I'm trying Zimbra in demo hosted suite.

I received the first email, with configuration instructions.

I have set the iPhone and it works perfectly: i created an exchange account.
Everything is in push, awesome. Mail, contacts, calendar, simply perfect.

Then i tried to set the same things on the Mac.
I tried to se the account as exchange too. But it didn't worked. It wasn't able to connect.
Then i tried to set it as CalDav and it worked.
Problem is that if it works as CalDav it hasn't the "total" push. I mean that when i change something from the Mac, it goes over the air just 1 second after.
When i change something on iPhone or on the web, it goes over the air 1 second after, but not to Mac. It'll be synced only after the normal refresh time.

Do you know why i can't set as exchange on the Mac.
    What is my error? Thanks!

Exchange settings on Mac don't work with Zimbra, since they would require support for Microsoft's proprietary Outlook Web Access protocol. See: Bug 38631 - Enable snow leopard messaging features, Outlook for Mac 2011

Mail.app will have near-instantaneous updates if you set it to use IDLE. Preferences > Accounts > Advanced.

I doubt that Zimbra currently offers the equivalent of CalDAV Push. But you could set a more frequent refresh interval in iCal. Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Refresh calendars.

It does seem there's some movement toward creating a CalDAV extension that does Push, and if properly implemented, it may even work with iCal out of the box. So I've created an RFE in bugzilla. If you'd like to see it implemented in Zimbra, please vote for Bug 54697 - support CalDAV push for iCal

Why CardDav doesn't work with Macs?

It's a problem with current Mac implementation of CardDAV, but Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), which I believe will be released this month, will fix it.

For more info, please search the forums as this has been covered in other threads.
