    Default Zimbra smtp auth

    Hello,

In my organization we authenticate to accounts via Active Directory, and our local network is defined in mynetworks in postfix. Currently i would like to configure scanner device to send email via zimbra server, which is outside our network (other network). I don`t want to add this network to mynetworks, how should I configure smtp_auth ?

Create a zimbra user for the scanner device, configure your scanner device to use that zimbra server as out going smtp. Or do you mean your firewall is blocking out going traffic for port 25?

The problem is, that when i connect to 25 port i don`t have AUTH authorization, so connection is lost after EHLO.

Most of scanners should support SMTP auth, so as we setup ALL scanners and multifunction devices with our Zimbra server, we simply create user for scanner, like scanner@company.com and setup scanner to use Zimbra server as outgoing server, and use SMTP authentication, username "scanner@company.com" and password "some_password".
    Works all the time.

...except in situation, where there is some local mail server. Then we setup local mail server to accept mail from scanner.

....or use your ISP SMTP server to send scans like regular mail.

Have the scanner use zimbra as out going smtp, without auth. It is only sending to one email address to that server anyway.
