    Default Attachment Size Limits

I am just curious as to what a consensus would be in regards to attachment size limitations in today's internet broadband environments.

The reason being, I really don't know what limit is reasonable. I have some people that want to fire off e-mails with 35-50MB attachments. At what point is a burned CD in a FedEx envelope justified?

I currently have the attachment limits set to 10MB. I thought that was generous but maybe I am just being "old school"?

    Thoughts anyone?
    Cheers,

    Travis

IMO, the reasonable limit is what you set it to. I don't think attachments of 35Mb should be allowed via email, that's better sent by ftp. I suppose the obvious questions are: what do the users want; will it impact you server; how often do they want to send files of that size?

Not that I don't appreciate Mr. Phoenix's take on it or anything.

Just because you can send a 35-40 meg file does not mean the receipent has the same capabilities.

Personally I would say a 10M file is a little large, but with powerpoint presentation getting fairly large now a days it probably better to set to something like 25M.

    My 2 cents.

Excuse my UI ineptitude but where does one configure the the attachment size limit in ZCS? Is it "Maximum size of an uploaded file(kb):" in Global Settings -> MTA?

If there is such a setting is it separately configurable for both inbound and outbound attachment sizes, i.e. user 'crud' can receive attachments up to 10MB but only send attachments up to 5M?

This thread might help. I don't think this is separately configurable for inbound and outbound attachment sizes.
