So I'm a bit of a noob (especially to Zimbra), and have had a few problems (most of which I solved myself or with the help of these forums.)
Here's where I am now:
CentOS 5.6 2Gb/80 VPS
Zimbra CS 7.1.1 Open Source
I installed on the host lakshmi.mydomain.com
all installed fine, but after a while, MTA was showing as down.
I checked logs, read forum posts, restarted the service, rebooted the machine, all to no avail.
Then I figured since VCS uses it's own postfix, I would yum remove postfix and dovecot. I did so, rebooted, and all is apparently well for now.
Here is my current situation:
A) This box will be the mail server and SMTP gateway for 5 domains.
B) I will have only 3 humans connecting to 2-4 IMAP accounts each.
C) The primary focus of the box will be to send SMTP mail from web apps on other hosts (sep dedicated IPs, etc.)
D) Each of the sending hosts already has it's own SSL cert for wwwdomain.com & domain.com
The domains will be:
lakshmi.domain1.com (original host zimbra was installed on)
mail.domain1.com (first domain I want this server to be for)
domain1.com (do I need to define this separately for it to work as a mail server for domain1?)
My questions are thus:
1) should I make this box have hostnames as mail.domain1.com, mail.domain2.com, mail.domain3.com, mail.domain4.com, mail.domain5.com first, and then
2) create domain aliases from within Zimbra Admin?
Basically, now that I have zimbra working for lakshmi.domain1.com, I wanted to know what the next best approach is. I've spent the better part of today searching the forums, google, etc. and am looking for an answer specific to my situation.
