So... I'm looking at LDAP - Zimbra :: Wiki , which says: "After the master server is up, enable replication on the master with the command /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmldapenablereplica"
And then I'm looking at Promoting Replica to LDAP Master - Zimbra :: Wiki which gives you a long list of different steps, many of which have multiple substeps of stuff to do to the slave to promote it.
Taking a quick glance through that zmldapenablereplica script, it looks like it's doing almost the same thing as a large chunk of those steps.
If that script is really a match for those instructions it would *greatly* reduce the complexity of a slave promotion.
From a little bit of walking through the steps that script is taking, it looks like steps d through f are all done by that script, and that it depends on step g being done first before running it.
Can anyone give an additional set of eyes to verify that? If this is correct, it looks like you could eliminate steps b through f from those instructions, and insert "run /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmldapenablereplica" between steps g and h.
