    Default Domain records

    Hi,

I have Zimbra 7.1 Open Source setup on our server. The domain records have @ pointing to the server (for simplicity lets call it domain.com). The MX records also use @ ANAME as the entry. The problem however is that we have a separate server www.domain.com which serves as our webserver. When people enter the http://domain.com into the browser it will load up Zimbra instead of hitting the webserver. Is there a way that http://www.domain.com and http://domain.com will both point to our webserver without changing the @ entry to the webserver's IP ?

During the install Zimbra requested the @ record to point to the IP of the mailserver.

Here's a simplified layout of our domain.com entry table:
    @ IN A mailserverIP
    @ IN TXT "v=spf1 a:mail.domain.com -all"
    @ IN MX 10 mail.domain.com
    mail IN A mailserverIP
    www IN A webserverIP

The above works perfectly for mail, but has the webserver issue mentioned above.

    Please advise,

    Thanks,
    Miklos

You users should be entering the url as mail.domain.com not domain.com.

The problem is not with the mailserver. We have a company webpage uploaded to another server reachable from www.domain.com. Normally when people try to find us on the internet they won't enter www in-front of the URL. This means if someone opens a web browser and enters our domain without the www they will be sent to our zimbra page which is not what we want. we only want the zimbra page to be reachable when they enter: https://mail.domain.com

How should I update the DNS or Zimbra config to redirect ALL requests to http://domain.com to http://www.domain.com to avoid our customers seeing Zimbra instead of our company web page.

Then you have an incorrectly configured DNS record, you need to have a record that points to that server IP. Go to the Split DNS article and read how to configure the DNS records - obviously the IP addresses in your DNS records would be for your public IP.
