Default Issues getting MTA to run - ZCS-7.1.4 and CentOS 6.2

    Ok first things first...
I have a Virtualbox machine running CentOS 6.2 64bit. I installed version 7.1.4 of the Zimbra opensource using the RHEL version 6 64bit.

    I followed this tutorial:

Installing Zimbra Collaboration Suite 7 On CentOS 5.x (64Bit) | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials

figuring it to be pretty much identical to CentOS 6.2 but it is not.

I noticed a couple of things when I installed it.

    1. To be able to get passed the creation of a self signed certificate you needed to open up sudoers file...
    Code:
    visudo
    and place after...
    Code:
    Defaults requiretty
    This extra bit...
    Code:
    Defaults:%zimbra !requiretty
    Defaults:zimbra !requiretty
    2. To make sure that zmconfigd can run successfully you also need to ensure that the package NC is installed. Which can be done by performing this...
    Code:
    yum install nc
So right now everything has installed nicely and the only thing that isn't running is MTA

I don't know why it doesn't want to start, if someone could be so kind as to point me in the right direction or maybe like point 2 I need to install something that wasn't installed when I did minimal install.

    Cheers,
    Steve

You need to look in the log files to see what error is causing the problem.

Yeah you probably are right but even though I thought I had searched the forums for answers I found this about 15 mins after I posted...

    http://www.zimbra.com/forums/install...-x64-note.html

A critical step was missed when I followed the tutorial...
    Code:
    /etc/init.d/postfix stop
    chkconfig postfix off
Now I have all services running. Apparently Zimbra ships with its own version of postfix.

Thanks for the quick reply Phoenix

    Cheers,
    Steve
