Default Migration from CentOS 4-32 bit to CentOS6-64 bit

I've been trying to upgrade from zcs-7.1.4_GA_2555.RHEL4.20120105094733 to zcs-7.1.4_GA_2555.RHEL6_64.20120105094542 following the platform independent migration for upgrading howto here:
Platform and OS Independent ZCS to ZCS Migration Using Rsync - Zimbra :: Wiki
and everything appears to be normal (install same version on both sides, rsync with services off, backup LDAP, etc.) until I try to run an install -s with the /opt/zimbra file structure already populated from the old system. The only thing I'm doing different (and it failed doing things the documented way, too) is running "install -s" on the new server to ensure the ldap utils are from the right binaries before I use them to import the data. I get the following:
The system will be modified. Continue? [N] y
    Shutting down zimbra mail
    Backing up the ldap database...done.
    Removing existing packages
    Removing deployed webapp directories
    Installing packages
    zimbra-core-7.1.4_GA_2555.RHEL6_64-20120105094542.x86_64.rpm installation failed
    Installation cancelled
I looked for that error code in the script and I think it's being generated from the RPM itself. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this?
