Default zmbackups for individual accounts and tar'ing the output backup file

I want to tar the outputed folder structure from a zmbackup command call for individual accounts.

any moderators or other administrators see any potential issues if I do tar the folder structure and try to restore from a decompressed tar backup?

Let me elaborate. This backup is more for account archiving for terminating employees.

    so i would do:
    zmbackup -f -sync -a <user>@company.com -t /san/backup/term-employees

the tar'ing is two fold, one: encapsulates all of the subfolders into one container, and two: allows me to rename it to the identifying user.

My question is, if I tar the zmbackup output folder does anything think that there could be some issues, loss of symbolic links etc?

Why not use the built in export account tool that tars automatically? I do this all the time for terminated employees.
