Default Error on Add / Delete Accounts - LDAP: error code 80

Hi..I am having this strange problem of not able to add/delete any email accounts anymore. Everything was working fine after my fresh install.
Setup: FC5 min install and updates + Release 4.0.4_GA_457.FC5_20061115174033 FC5 FOSS edition

    1) Currently Email server is receiving and sending mails just fine and i was able to create all accounts just fine initially.
    2) I can log into user and admin interfaces properly without issues
    3) All services are showing they are ok
    [zimbra@email ~]$ zmcontrol status
    antispam Running
    antivirus Running
    ldap Running
    logger Running
    mailbox Running
    mta Running
    snmp Running
    spell Running
    4) I have stopped and started tomcat and rebooted the server also just in case

Problems: when I try to ADD or DELETE any account or alias I get following error

    Default Debian/old Ubuntu?

If you're on Debian or a sligtly old version of Ubuntu, make sure that the kernel bug hasn't caused permissions to be changed. You can run the zmfixperms script to make sure that everything is owned by the correct user.

    Default

    i am running FC5

    /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmfixperms
fixed my problem..i had to run this as "root"

    * Q is why would a perfectly running install gets its permissions screwed up. Is their any known bug for FC5 + Release 4.0.4_GA

    Thanks again

Default Current non-Debian kernel = no problems

Old Linux kernel versions had a pretty vicious bug in how they handled dropping permissions that would result in random files getting set to root ownership. The current kernel version for all OSes (except Debian) for which there are Zimbra OSS releases should fix this issue.

    Default zmfixperms won't fix

I'm having this same issue and zmfixperms is not fixing the issue. Are there any other fixes to this out there? Our install worked with the newest version of Zimbra 4.5.7 on an FC6 VMWare machine with all the updates. It ran fine for a few weeks through testing and for a few days after our go live. Now 4 days after our switch we've started getting this error and can't add anymore users! Please help!

    Thanks ahead of time.

    Hi-
    Sorry that you're having trouble.

This thread is very very old, so I'm hoping that it's not the same issue. Can you please post your logs so that we can look at it?

    Thanks
    jh

    Default Memory

I forgot to post my findings for this. The error went away when we upgraded the memory on the server. We went from 512 MB to 1.5GB memory and that cleared up the issue. I'm guessing we didn't have enough space in memory to load the Java code that adds/deletes users.
