Default Zimbra Backup Mount point reaching 100%!

we have mailbox 1 and Mailbox2 servers.
On mailbox 1 the Zimbra backups are taken on the mount point /backup. But recently /backup is reaching 100% as a result backup fails and the error received is

com.zimbra.common.service.ServiceException: system failure: Unable to create directory /opt/zimbra/backup/tmp/full-20120908.223219.435/sys

    Default

    Add more space?

Either more physical disks in the server and mount them to /backup or mount /backup to an NFS driver on a NAS or another server.

the current /backup isnot LVM so adding more space to it was not possible.

Assuming you are running NE (please adjust your profile to indicate what version you use)...

Starting with version 6 (I believe), backups moved from shared inodes to compressed blobs, and the default is no compression. So now backups take a LOT more space than before. You can either switch back to the old method of shared inodes, or enable compression. It depends on your processor and how many backups you keep around.
