Default upgrade ZCS 7.2 on ubuntu 10.04 to ZCS 8.0 on uibuntu 12.04

I had install ZCS 7.2 on ubuntu 10.04 a few months ago. I would like to upgrade to the new 8.0 since 12.04 is supported now and we are running mostly ubuntu 12.04. The only 10.04 we installed were for Zimbra.

I would also like to fix a few issues - I originally installed on the only internet facing server (ddi1-vm5) we have since I was under a lot of time constraints. So that server also have a few other applications runnning. Now that I have more time, I would like to separate Zimbra into its own VM on another server behind firewalls. I understand to do this I need to have split-DNS (which I already do have, for other purpose). But it seems I also need to install the MTA on ddi1-vm5 to route the incoming mail? It does not seem like this is very well documented.

So I tried to follow this instruction: http://www.zimbra.com/forums/adminis...u-12-04-a.html.

    I first installed with
    sudo ./install.sh -s --> install without configuring
sudo rm -rf /opt/zimbra --> to remove the software
    rsync -avH ddi1-vm5:/opt/zimbra /opt
    sudo ./install.sh
then it seems to hang trying to start mysql.
any ideas? Below is the log:

    dereklai@zimbravm:~/zcs-8.0.0_GA_5434.UBUNTU12_64.20120907144631$ sudo ./install.sh

    Default

Controlling mail destination on your internet facing VM, can't you handle that with your firewall?

    As for upgrading,

When I did my upgrade, I didn't jump directly from Ubuntu 8.04 to 12.04, I did it in steps:

Download Zimbra 7.2.x for Ubuntu 10.04 and 12.04
Upgrade Ubuntu from 8.04 to 10.04
Run the Zimbra installer as an upgrade to the same version, but different os
Make sure things are still running properly
Download Zimbra 8.x for Ubuntu 10.04
    Do the Zimbra 8 upgrade
Make sure things are still running properly
Download Zimbra 8.x for Ubuntu 12.04
    Upgrade Ubuntu to 12.04
Do a Zimbra install for version 8 on Ubuntu 12.04
