Default POP Email Access - Is It Necessary?

    Hey Everyone,

We encourage all of our users to configure their email accounts as IMAP accounts when they desire to use a mail client (like Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or the client on their smartphone/tablet). The only time our users connect via POP is because they set it up by mistake. Every once and a while we have to help a user who accidentally POPed all of their email off the server get their email back on the server (not hard, but something we shouldn't have to do!)

So, my question is this. With just about everything supporting IMAP, is there a reason to allow POP connections?

What do my fellow Zimbra sysadmins think?

EDIT: Dang! I noticed the options for a poll AFTER I clicked submit! Can a mod add a poll by chance?

The simple answer to that question is no, it's not necessary. Just disable it in the Admin UI.

I have disabled by default in the CoS groups and only enable on specific accounts when required for this reason.
