Clearing email via IMAP
I have a user who's leaving the company soon.
I'd like to keep his email account live, so that we can refer to it if needed. However the user accesses his email on his iPhone, so I assume has copies of emails on the phone.
Is there an easy way that I can clear the email off the phone?
I'm assuming that I could move the emails out of the account somehow, then when IMAP syncs it will clear the inbox. Can someone tell me an easy way to achieve this please?
If you wish to stop the user accessing the account then why don't you just rename it or lock the account or even change the password? Why do you think he's still accessing the account? I also doubt very much if has has all his email on the blackberry, mobile clients don't usually download all the mail from a server (but I don't know that much about Blackberries). If you really want to move all the data out of the account, why don't you just use the export function of that account and remove all the data once you've imported it into another account for verification?
As far as I'm aware, locking the account or changing the password will just cause an auth error on the phone. However any email on the iPhone will remain.
Where will I find the the export function that you mention? I can't find it in Zimbra Admin.
It's not in the Admin UI, you'll find it in the account Preferences page. Do make sure you restore it to a new account to verify the export worked correctly, you can do just mail or everything for that account (contacts etc.).

Not all email gets "downloaded" to the phone though, especially over IMAP. With IMAP, only the headers are downloaded, and then messages are downloaded once selected. So if you lock the account, he'll no longer have the ability to read his email.
