    Default Downgrade 8.0.2 back to 7.2.1

    Hi,

    I am wondering if it is possible to SAFELY downgrade ZCS 8.0.2 back to 7.2.1, the version ,which I upgraded it to 8.0.2.
    Why should I do that?
    Simply because I keep receiving complaints about non-intuitive ZCS 8.x version user webmail interface. I know and I admire programmers hard work, I really do, but I cannot help if users daily complain how to switch back to "nice web interface with descriptive icons" and to "user friendly search" back in 7.2.1 version. So, this is PRODUCTION with thousands of users, and I am asking for your experience with downgrading ZCS 8.0.2

    Thank you.

    Any reason you're choosing 7.2.1 over 7.2.2 ? We're not on 7.2.2 and I'm wondering if there's any specific issues with it.

    The simple answer to that is no, it's not possible to 'downgrade' any version of Zimbra.

    Just a thought, and shooting from the hip with no research at all here :

    Can you install a second Zimbra server (being 7.2.x) and move the mailboxes across?

    That would be the only method of moving mailboxes to an older version of ZCS. Surely it would be better to continue with the new interface? ZCS 7.x will reach EOL sometime in the not too distant future and the current ZCS 8 interface isn't likely to be change into the 'old version'.

    Hi,

    well, first of all, thanx for answering Downgrade question. On the same server, it is definitely NOT possible. But I could do that via 2nd server by migrating mailboxes over to another server, which would run 7.2.x version.

    Regarding version, I must have made a mistake when typing, so my actual migration path was

    Ubuntu 8.04
    ZCS 7.2.1 --> 7.2.2 -->
    Ubuntu 8.04 --> Ubuntu 10.04
    Reinstall 7.2.2 for Ubuntu 10.04
    ZCS 7.2.2 --> ZCS 8.0.2

    I did chose to trying to resolve my "issues" by reporting bugs and enhancements, but to be honest - most users liked old 7.x Web user interface much more, than new redesigned 8.x version. Which is what I cannot resolve without massive community support, because it would mean the whole community would need to be dissapointed with new design, and it would mean programmers would need to redesign web interface:
    - add icons back to web interface buttons
    - old Search was user friendly, while new one is over complicated
    - old Search textbox was very handy, located just above messages, while new one is, especially on 1920 px wide monitors, too far from eye sight

    But I'll rather choose the path of participating with:
    - translations
    - and possible theme upgrade, so buttons would get icons back

    has anyone had any success with this?

    I'm intend to migrate from version 8 64-bit to version 7 32-bit (virtualization host limitation)

    any issue that could arise? How about licensing? It can be converted to version 7?

    what tools to be use? Zextras? zmlmtpinject? imapsync?
