Default Sending email with thunderbird via port 465 (SSL/TLS) is not working

    Hi,

I have Zimbra server installed and with the ZIMBRA desktop everything seems to be working fine (sending / receiving email).

Now I try to setup my Thunderbird to connect to the ZIMBRA server via IMAP (993) and SMTP (465).

Receiving email via IMAP (port 993) is working fine. But I can't send an email with thunderbird via the SMTP Secure port (465).

The logs show the following error:

When posting a question you should always provide details of the version and release of Zimbra plus what you've tried from doing a forum search and what results you had. You should also use the correct Submission port which is 587 and try some of these threads for an answer.

I think Bill meant to say the submission port is 587 TCP...

    Hope that helps,
    Mark

    Hi,

Sorry wrong title. It should be 587 instead of 465.

    My Zimbra installation:
    zmcontrol -v
    Release 8.0.2.GA.5569.UBUNTU12.64 UBUNTU12_64 FOSS edition.

When I try to connect to the zimbra server via IMAP (993) and outgoing server (587) with my iPhone or Thunderbird client.
I am able to all email's, but I can't send email via port 587. I have been searching the zimbra forums and google.
But could not find a solution for my issue. Hopefully someone can point me into the right direction.
