I have successfully installed and am running Zimbra 7.2.2 on Ubuntu 8.04LTS, DNS setup and installation went well.

I'm now setting up another test box of Zimbra 8.0.3 on Ubuntu 10.04LTS and have a DNS issue which I cannot resolve. I have read, re-read and re-tried the DNS advice about setting things up but cannot get zimbra to resolve correctly during installation.

When running the setup I get:

Code:
DNS ERROR resolving MX for zmail8.local
It is suggested that the domain name have an MX record configured in DNS
if I change this to 'local'

Code:
Change domain name? [Yes]
Create domain: [zmail8.local] local

DNS ERROR resolving MX for local
It is suggested that the domain name have an MX record configured in DNS
My config is as follows - can anyone see any issues here?

Code:
root@zmail8:/# cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.178.105 zmail8.local zmail8

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts

fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
Code:
root@zmail8:/# cat /etc/resolv.conf
search local
nameserver 192.168.178.105
Code:
root@zmail8:/# dig local mx
