Default Increase in Backup Data Size

    Hi,

For testing purposes, we've installed the Version 8.0.2_GA_5569.FOSS Dec 10, 2012 of ZCS on Ubuntu 12.04LTS.

Using a backup script "zmbak_v.0.8.sh" that was available online, we backup the data from /opt/zimbra which is around 14GB in size.

This is backed up onto another server. However, if we check the size of the backed up data "/opt/zimbra/" it is shown as 95GB.

When checked further in /opt/zimbra/ , it seen that the data/ldap/mdb/db/data.mdb is around 80GB. This is rather surprising, considering that the disk size on the source server is 80GB.

Please can someone shed some light on this.

    Regards,
    Soupys.

    Hi

Known behavior - Look up http://www.zimbra.com/forums/adminis...-data-mdb.html

P.S if the Backupscript is using rsync you can add "-S" option to your rsync command so the rsync process doesnt transfers the full 80 gb sparse file at every backup...

    Regards
