80GB ldap database
No that is not a typo in the title.
I am running Release 8.0.3.GA.5664.UBUNTU12.64 UBUNTU12_64 FOSS edition and my
/opt/zimbra/data/ldap/mdb/db/data.mdb is exactly 80 Gigabytes. Which is especially
surprising since the install is on a 20GB virtual machine.
A fsck on the drive shows up clean. The end of the data file seems to be all null bytes
so I assume that it is a sparse file and doesn’t actually take up that much room on disk.
However when backing up those sparse sectors suddenly become real and I have a very
The machine has a total of 23 accounts on it and it seems to be working just fine otherwise.
The allocated size reported by 'ls -ks' is 880(kb), and 'du --block-size=1' reports 901120
which is exactly 880kb
Clearly 80 GB is to big, but how go I go about fixing it?
The truncate command will cut it down to size but is it safe to do so?
