    Default Zimbra 8.5 Release Date

    Hi there
I am looking forward to the new Zimbra release, as it brings major enhancements imho. Hence my question: When can we expect Zimbra 8.5 to be released?

Product releases are not pre-announced and it's still in development, there will be an announcement it the forums when it's available.

Is there any indication like a specific quarters or half-year? I personally like Zimbra 8 very much and see Zimbra 8.5 as really competitive release. I am strongly considering it as a business possibility. So I need at least something. What do you tell your partners?

Once upon a time Zimbra included their next major release in the roadmap on their product management page (Zimbra Product Management Portal) - including calling out RFEs for most planned new features as well as target beta and release dates. That gave users an opportunity to provide active feedback on features and priorities as they were being developed. I don't recall whether this disappeared during the Yahoo! or VMware periods, but it's unfortunate.

I think it started towards the end of Yahoo's days, but VMware certainly put the nail in the coffin...

From my pov, the major benefit was that it pulled everyone together, improved comunication and enhanced clarity. If one kept up to date with pm.zimbra.com, it was possible to talk in an informed manner which gave customers and prospects a degree of confidence.

It seems to me that since Telligent, pm.zimbra.com is slightly more verbose about next point releases - maybe that's just my imagination. But it's good none the less.

If Zimbra could figure out a way to provide more information without compromising their commercial position, I'm sure we would all welcome it. Perhaps there is someway NDAs could help - this works for beta and development programmes with other vendors, so I don't see why something similar couldn't work here.

Just after posting the above, I started watching Jon Dybik give a fantastic level of detail in a Webinar about the new always on architecture features which are coming in forthcoming releases - great job Jon.

    Here's the recorded webinar. https://vimeo.com/81131895

    Hello,
Any update as of when the ZCS 8.5 version will be released or if there will be any beta version released for testing ?
I know about the webinar mentioned above, however there is no release date mentioned there. Should we expect it in the first half of 2014 ?

    Thanks.
