Default Recommended procedure for migrating from version 6 to 8 (FOSS)

What is the recommended procedure to move from version 6 to version 8? Can I do a fresh install of OS/Zimbra on a separate machine, then move the users/mail over (i.e. backup on old server, restore on new)?

    Current/live version: zcs-6.0.6_GA_2324.UBUNTU8_64.20100406201708

    New: zcs-8.0.5_GA_5839.UBUNTU12_64.20130910124038

    Hi strafford,

I can suggest you to give a try with ZeXtras Migration Tool, but you need to upgrade your live system because it supports only zimbra version after 6.0.7, it should be simple to upgrading to latest Zimbra 6 (6.0.15).

Ok, I will give that I try.

I have just updated to 6.0.16 as a first step. When I get the v. 8 version running, I will try the tool.

    Thanks for your response!
