Zimbra and SpamAssassin
I have had noticed an increase in spam activity over the past few months. I created my Zimbra server back in October 2013 (patched to latest release - 8.0.6). I have endabled RBLs and turned on policyd, however when I look at the spam-assassin folder (/opt/zimbra/conf/spamassassin), I noticed that the latest dates were November 15 (when I patched my system). Does anyone know if the 8.0.6 patch broke sa-update? I don't see it in the cron or a call within zimbra.log anywhere and I have been having to manually execute the below command to update my spamassassin.
/opt/zimbra/zimbramon/bin/sa-update --updatedir /opt/zimbra/conf/spamassassin --allowplugins && /opt/zimbra/bin/zmamavisdctl restart
Is there something elsewhere I can check for the sa-update call?
Have you actually enabled SA updates? I have a recollection that this was in the Release Notes but you can check if it's enabled with:
You can use zmlocalconfig to enable both of the settings that you'll see from that command.
zmlocalconfig | grep antispam_enable
Yep that was it. Problem solved. I executed both commands:
zmlocalconfig -e antispam_enable_rule_updates=true
zmlocalconfig -e antispam_enable_restarts=true
It's now working again. Thanks ever so much.
