    Default Milter problem

Hi, I'm using mailarchiva connected through milter but when I enable milter in zimbra server's MTA page, the MTA "pretends" to stop (although it looks like it continues working) and I get this output to zmcontrol status:

    Host webmail.cloudsupport.com.br
    antispam Running
    antivirus Running
    ldap Running
    logger Running
    mailbox Running
    mta Stopped
    zmmilterctl is not running

    opendkim Running
    snmp Running
    spell Running
    stats Running
    zmconfigd Running

If I disable the milter server the MTA goes to running status, but I need it to be enabled because of mailarchiva...

The milter server is globally disabled and only enabled to my current server, the port is correctly set to the same port that I use on mailarchiva, and even with this error everything works fine, including mailarchiva; I'm just worried that the MTA "pretending" to be stopped could cause me some future problems.

I've already read ALL posts regarding this kind of problem, but none addresses my issue.

I'm running ZCS OS edition, v8.0.7 on ubuntu 12.04

Can some good soul help me troubleshoot this?

    Thanks in advance!

I'm also running Zimbra OSE 8.0.7 on Ubuntu 12.04 with Mailarchva working just fine. Can you supply some screenshots of both your Zimbra milter settings along with Mailarchiva?

Hi Doug, thanks for your reply.

I really think it's a zimbra problem alone, that behavior started after I disabled memcached and proxy, which was accidentally installed while upgrading from 8.0.6 to 8.0.7...

Are you running MailArchiva on the Zimbra server? If so, I don't really suggest you do that.

Well I've always ran it that way, for the last 5 years at least, and it always worked very well, this error just begun after the accidental memcached+proxy install/uninstall.

The problem persists even if I shutdown the mailarchiva service, so it has nothing to do with it.

Have you any good reason for not using it on the same server?

If you think it's the proxy, then I'd suggest you do some searching on the proper way to remove it's settings, a brief search resulted in:

Hi Doug, thank you for spending time trying to help me fix that.

I've already read that thread before, and also removed memcached and imapproxy as described there. I've also reset the ports already, but the problem persists...

Well, without logs, nobody will be able to help. I'd suggest looking at the below logs to get an idea of what's failing:

    /var/log/zimbra.log
    /var/log/mail.info
    /var/log/mail.err

    /opt/zimbra/log/milter.log
    /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log

    Thanks Doug.

I found what the problem is, when I start the MTA with milter enabled, it binds the milter server IP to 0.0.0.0 instead of the ZimbraMilterBindAddres. I have two IPs on the machine, so I would like to bind the milter from zimbra on IP 1 and the mailarchiva milter to IP 2.. Where can I change this setting so milter server binds to one specific IP?

All seems to be setup correctly:

    zimbra@webmail:/root$ zmprov gs webmail.xyz.com.br | grep BindAddress
    zimbraAdminBindAddress: 208.67.Y.X
    zimbraImapBindAddress: 208.67.Y.X
    zimbraImapSSLBindAddress: 208.67.Y.X
    zimbraLmtpBindAddress: 208.67.Y.X
    zimbraMailBindAddress: 208.67.Y.X
    zimbraMailSSLBindAddress: 208.67.Y.X
    zimbraMailSSLClientCertBindAddress: 208.67.Y.X
    zimbraMilterBindAddress: 208.67.Y.X
    zimbraPop3BindAddress: 208.67.Y.X
    zimbraPop3SSLBindAddress: 208.67.Y.X

    Thanks again Doug,

I don't know how to have Zimbra's milter bind to a specific address. 0.0.0.0 means to listen to all interfaces.
