Angry Is it possible to integrate Zimbra web client to legacy IMAP server?

We were so impressed by Zimbra's client UI.

There a mature mail system in our company which combined by exim, courier-imap and ldap. Is is possible to let the Zimbra client UI to connect our IMAP server via standard IMAP4rev1 protocol? Because we dont want make a so big change to our system.

    Thanks?

    Hi,

    i have the same need,

we have a good server mail system in our client company and don't want change it.

but our webmail haven't the quality of zimbra webmail.

a java zimbra API, just between the client and the our server, is the best for us.

    please think about this feature.

Hi..as of what i know you cannot use Zimbra as "Web Client" only. its completely integrated into whole Zimbra server solution as 1 complete package.
More over you loose all the cool functionality Zibmbra provide as a Collaboration Tool if you donít use the whole thing.

I donít think Zimbra is trying to compete or work on Web Client only model at all.

raj is rite. As soon as you take a look at Zimbra Architecture, you will got the idea that the Zimbra Ajax Client knows nothing about IMAP protocol. In fact it knows nothing but SOAP.

yes i see (i take more than a look to the code ).

what i need is just a part who speak with my server ..

    AjaxZimbraWebmail<-soap->IntercoZImbraApi<-java ->MyServer

where the IntercoZImbraApi is the new feature i need in my tomcat (with interface i must implement)

    Cool functionality means..
Search, Shared Calendar, Collaboration, GAL all other things why Zimbra exist at first place not just to read mail on web.

Yes if thye give you all the API you need you will be spending LOT of time trying to make your own interface ..which is kind of lot of work

Rest for academic purposes its good to lean all API stuff and see how you can hook up your existing system..but again then you not using Zimbra for what its made for.

    Hi

we don't loose "cool functionality Zibmbra" if zimbra offer an API to plug our groupware server ...

for example, some java interface to implement for mail, calendar and contact ...

i don't want cut in the zimbra server code source to do the same
