    Default Backup / Restore Network Edition

    Hello all,

    I currently have the network edition (7.2.7) running on Centos 6.x x64 as a esxi guest. This has worked flawlessly for 3 years or so. I now want to migrate from this server to a new dedicated server that I have access to. I have been doing plenty of research into this as I want to ensure as smooth a cutover as possible. I have setup a brand new VM (KVM) with the exact same version of Centos and exactly the same HOSTNAME, OS packages installed etc. Now I'm thinking that migration should be very straightforward as I can easily install the exact same version of zimbra and then something like rsync my /opt/zimbra directory from OLD to NEW. Voila !!!!

    I found this document related to the network edition;

    Network Edition Disaster Recovery - Zimbra :: Wiki

    Wow, is that *ALL* necessary ? Really ?....... surely everything I need is in /opt and maybe crontabs or /etc/init.d ?????

    I also found this related to the opensource version;

    Backing up and restoring Zimbra (Open Source Version) - Zimbra :: Wiki

    I tried it and it worked beautifully. Why is this so easy and the Network edition so hard ?

    Am I missing something ?

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    When staying in the same version, what I used to do was install Zimbra (same version) on the new server with the --softwareonly flag on install (to install the RPMs). Then you can (while the old server is still running and zimbra on the new one isn't running) do an rsync of /opt/zimbra and any other zimbra storage volumes/index volumes to the new server. You then stop Zimbra on the old server, do a final rsync, and start up on the new server.

    I've used AJCody's wiki pages in the past for this:
    Ajcody-Notes-Server-Move - Zimbra :: Wiki

    Note: only works for same OS version and same Zimbra version.
