Okay, what do I need to reinstall or what didn't get reinstalled? I followed the instructions, stopped the server, ran the install script, selected upgrade, etc...And I have rebooted the server since then.

How in the world did that happen?
I think there's more here than meets the eye.
    1) resetting the password shouldn't have fixed the LDAP problem
    2) Can you post your /opt/zimbra/.install_history

    Thanks
    john
(PS, you probably should restore to your backup)

The next time you install, after it fails (if it does), can you post your install.log?

    Thanks

Okay, "after" it fails sounds a bit grim... That said, at this point, what are my options? I don't want to lose my existing mail. Is there a way to set up a parallel installation and transition my mail over to it? Or should I run the 4.5.3GA installer again? If this is the case, what options should I watch out for, and should I pull the LDAP password from my existing config.save?

John, I also ran the entire upgrade via the script command, so I have a transcript that I can pm you...

I'm back working on 4.0.3, which I had to pull from backups. I followed the wiki page for opensource backup/restore:

    1. Tarred original broken 4.5.3 install to a different directory.
    2. Cleared out /opt/zimbra.
    3. Restored old 4.0.3GA isntall from backup
    4. Installed 4.0.3GA from debs
    5. Started Zimbra. Was able to log in just fine.
    6. Upgraded to 4.5.3GA
    7. Started processes, tried to log in. Could not log in with PDU error.

I'm still getting the data mismatch errors:

    Code:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Data version mismatch. Reinitialize or upgrade
    the backend data store.
Did the database schema change between 4.0.3 and 4.5.3? Is there an interim step I need to hit?

    Thanks,

Yes, there were lots of changes.
I belive the problem lies with your RPM db.
You need to backup, and uninstall zimbra with the ./install.sh -u command.
Then install your CURRENT WORKING VERSION, the restore to your backup working version, then upgrade.

I'll try it again, but my deb database is accurate:

    Code:
    [root@merrimac ~]# dpkg -l | grep zimbra
