Default E-mail not delivered notifications (bounced and deffered)

    Hi

I work for a company which has zimbra server. We have had several problems of e-mails not delivered (both bounced and deferred). I'd like to know if there is some way to set a not delivered e-mail notification for both, administrator and sender and for both deferred and bounced.

I'm told the deferred emails wait for 4 days until being bounced. I would like to be notified right after the email is deferred, cause 4 days later is too late.

I am not the actually zimbra administrator, but i have to make the bridge between the company i work for and the zimbra administrator to save time and money .

Of course I can read the log, but it takes too much time.

Linux version 2.6.5-7.97-smp gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux)
(I dont know how to see Zimbra version)

P.S.: Sorry about my bad english.

    Thanks in Advance

When you say log I don't know if you mean the specific deferred log:
"The reasons for the delivery failures is documented in a file in the deferred queue."
Your best bet might be using a script to scan that deferred queue log for changes/additions.

The whole point of a deferred queue is because sometimes systems at the other receiving end are down for a transient transmission reason (ie: it might succeed later), so the message is placed a queue.
You can shorten the days it retries if you want, but a 3-4day queue is common in most mta's incase a server is down for weekend maintenance, power outage etc.

Might want to examine why those messages aren't getting through...are they being improperly addressed, communication errors etc.

I see. The log I've seen is /var/log/zimbra.log. What is the deferred log?

That would be the very next step.

maybe look in /opt/zimbra/postfix/spool/deferred or defer?
I just saw that in here: http://www.zimbra.com/docs/os/latest...6_MTA.6.1.html
