Default Disable advanced clients for certain users

    Hi Folks!

I'm looking to disable the advanced client (javascript) for a set of users so as to reduce the load on the server. The ideal would be to configure the class of service which I use for that particular domain not only allow basic client (html)...

Does anybody think this could be done? If so, how?
Otherwise I'll need to file a wishlist bug

    Thanks, Jens

For now you might just disable calendar, documents, zimlets, etc in the features tab of each user you want to restrict.

For your exact request: Bug 14181 - Force Basic HTML Client for Users based on COS

Also, if you want to leave the choice up to the user: Bug 16134 - option to enable html client as default

    Question Basic HTML Clients Only

Is this possible using the OS edition please?

I would like to force all clients to use Basic HTML version.

I am not sure looking at that Bug that it tells me how to do this.

If it does - which version is it referring to please?

    Thanks

    Costa

It seemed to me that these changes have not been implemented yet but are on the way...So I went with the advice in this thread to just disable as much as possible...

Hopefully there will soon be a release with this new login functionality but until then I'm not going to "open the hood"...

    Good luck

I made an entry in Zimbra Wiki yesterday over how to change the default Advanced Client mode to Basic Client mode without user interaction. You can find it here.

In sort, I was explaining about:

    1. Change default Zimbra HTTP port from TCP/80 to TCP/81.
    2. Add your own Apache HTTP webserver and provide relevant configuration.
    3. Add a first landing URL which next send URL automatically to new Zimbra HTTP port (TCP/81).

I should say it is simple and non-intrusive hack.
