    Default Encrypted offsite backups

    Hi all,

I'm after a bit of advice; I want to perform encrypted offsite backups with Zimbra NE and I'm trying to think of the best way of doing this. Here's my idea:

    1) Instead of using the zmbackup -a all option, I'll call zmbackup for each domain in turn (after generating a list of accounts in each domain) like so:

    zmbackup -f/i -a {} -t <zimbra_home>/backup/ -z && zmbackup -f/i -a {} -t <zimbra_home>/backup/ -z && ...

Reason for this is so that I end up with each domains backup in a separate directory which will make the other steps more manageable.
I could remove the && and get the script to watch for the backup to finish before starting on the next domain. This might handle errors better as a failed backup at one domain may not cause the others to fail - depending on the reason for failure of course.

    2) Tar each domains new backup (split into multiple tar files if too large).

    3) Use gpg to encrypt each tar file and then remove the cleartext tar files once done.

    4) Transfer the gpg files to the offsite location.

NB. Of course I'll also include a gpg file containing the rest of the backup directory contents (ldap, etc).

    Anyone got a better idea?

It's working but I've got a problem where the backups include all accounts, not just the ones I've specified. Is this because of the redo logs?

    eg. /opt/zimbra/bin/zmbackup -i -a -z

    zmbackupquery -v
    Label: incr-20070718.132501.578
    Type: incremental
    Status: completed
    Started: Wed Jul 18 14:25:01 BST 2007
    Ended: Wed Jul 18 14:25:05 BST 2007
    Number of accounts: 2
    Account list:

I have to be able to use incremental backups otherwise the amount of data will be too much to transfer off site.
