Default Simple questions regarding SOAP/Zimbra roll account

    Hello!

Before I get into it, props to the developers, Zimbra looks great, end-users love it!

I've been working my way through the documentation provided and have written a handful of soap functions that work by authenticating as our account 'zimbra'. This account has WAY too many privileges (including a shell on the server).

My question is probably extremely simple: I would like to create a roll account that is able to make changes VIA soap, but has no user associated on the OS...

Whats the best way of doing this? I don't particularly want to have this user to have any email box associated either.

    Thanks in advance!

To create a "role" account, just log on to the Zimbra administrative interface (port 7071) and create a new user.

Check the "domain administrator" or "administrator" boxes - depending on what you want your SOAP client to do. The new account you create in Zimbra won't have a corresponding shell account.

If you don't want this new user to do email, keep clicking "Next" until you get to the window titled "Features" and then deselect "Mail".
