Default Obtaining email messages through Rest API

Currently developing a web application and need access to users inbox from a specific email address. I have been testing this with my own email and the information that is returned doesn't contain the actual message. I read ZCS databases only contain the metadata so does that mean you can't receive the entire message?

I started creating a zimlet to possibly get around this issue but am having issues with it creating/using files contained on a separate server (although I am pretty sure this is possible and I am doing something incorrectly). So it appears the best way to go about this is through the REST API but with the lack of full messages perhaps it is impossible? Thank you in advance for any information.

REST allow you to get the full raw message.
To see what REST will get when you want to get a mail, right click on a mail, and select "show original".
This use REST to access your mail with an URL that look like that :
1109650 is the id of your mail in zimbra.

I came up with a solution very much like that. I search for the correct emails and get their id's with ?fmt=xml and then use the id's to get the full message. Thank you for the reply.
