    Default UI SOAP communication

A couple of days ago I read somewhere that the javascript UI can send requests with SOAP and accept request back with a different protocol. This is because parsing the soap XML isn't really fast.

The problem is that I don't remember anymore what the protocol was and where I read about it. So can anyone help me finding the name and the link to this protocol.

I have a second question. Could it be possible to implement a communication layer that uses XML-RPC instead of SOAP. Offcourse without changing other parts of the library. I think this is possible, but what do you think?

Default I'll take "Protocols that aren't SOAP" for $300, Alex.

    It's JSON.

It's possible, but not straightforward since XML-RPC doesn't appear to have the same header/body structure as the two protocols we're currently supporting. (You also can't use a leading-character test to determine whether a payload is SOAP or XML-RPC...)

Generally, you'd have to add a new subclass to soap.Element and a new subclass to soap.SoapProtocol, but getting it right would be very tricky. What's the rationale for implementing an XML-RPC interface? I hear that SOAP is a very Simple Object Access Protocol...
