Exclamation UID STORE failed: UID STORE error; can't store that data

Ever since upgrading zimbra desktop when asked to, I haven't been able to fetch a single new email.
The "Error Reports" pseudo-folder contains a number of messages like this one:

    Product name: Zimbra Desktop
    Product version: 0.91
    Build ID: 1338

Note that I am synchronizing two yahoo accounts and one gmail account. The Gmail account doesn't report any error, but both yahoo accounts show those error reports, and no new mail showing when there is in fact new mail in the web interface.

I'm now going to purge the local store for one of those accounts and see if that helps any.

Default com.zimbra.common.soap.SoapFaultException: mailbox in maintenance mode: 8

Hmm. going into the "manage data" then clicking "reset" for one of my two yahoo accounts brought me back to an empty UI that didn't acknowledge any of my accounts. Clicking on "inbox" changed the UI into a long page of error messages, as follow:

    HTTP ERROR: 500

Next step for me: Shutting down both UI and service and starting fresh, to see what's left.

the UID store issue is independent of the maintenance mode issue.

the maintenance mode issue I can't reproduce. which OS is this?

ah it's vista. please file a bug with the maintenance issue and we'll try to reproduce on vista.

Once the maintenance mode issue is resolved we can look into the "UID STORE" issue but you will first need to enable "debug trace" in account setup, try fetching new mail again, then send us the files mailbox.log (log file) and mailbox.out (trace file).

But of course this will not work if you are still stuck in maintenance mode, hopefully we will find a workaround for that soon.

No worry, the maintenance mode doesn't persist over a service shutdown/restart.

I've enabled debug trace for the other yahoo account (the one I didn't recreate and that still shows the sync bug), then tried another (failed) sync.

I have a zimbra/zdesktop/log/mailbox.log file that's 3MB, but it hasn't been updated since 10/08 1pm (which coincides rather closely with my upgrade time)
I don't appear to have a mailbox.out file present (find . -name mailbox.out -print under zimbra/zdesktop returns nothing.)

    Oh duh.
I think the new build is using zdesktop.log and zdesktop.out instead.
Those files are growing happily as I speak. Unfortunately, I'm still doing a full sync with the yahoo account I re-added, so the failed sync with the other yahoo account is lost somewhere in the noise.

How should I send you a copy of those 2 files?

zdesktop.exe kept running after selecting "shutdown service" from the tray.

After stopping the "Yahoo! Zimbra Desktop Service" and starting it again, then starting the zimbra UI, I can see that the "reset" didn't happen, and the imap sync still isn't happening.

That's a bummer. I just tried another "reset" and getting the exact same results.. although I did a mistake on my previous post. the "HTTP ERROR: 500" page happens when I click on "account setup". Clicking on the inbox brings up an empty folder.

My next step should be to remove one of my yahoo account altogether, then recreate it, but I probably won't have time to do that right now, and won't be able to mess with it again until Saturday.

oh well. I tried. removing one of my yahoo account resulting in a blue "Processing..." label on the UI, abruptly following by a full page error message:

However, quitting and restarting the UI (taking a wild guess at what zdf:reload was supposed to do ) appears to work, and the deleted account is gone.

Next up, re-adding the account to Zimbra Desktop.

    Talking working initial IMAP synchronization

The Yahoo account I removed then re-added appears to be doing its initial IMAP sync correctly. It's going to take a while as I have about 10K emails in it, but it looks encouraging.

If I had to take a wild guess as to what's happening, I'd say the new zimbra desktop build is probably using its local store in a slightly incompatible way from the previously released build, resulting in an inability to synchronize against local stores created from older builds.

TL;DR: If you are unable to synchronize your yahoo accounts and get errors similar to mine, you might want to remove then add those yahoo accounts again to your zimbra desktop. You will lose your account settings and probably other stuff, so watch for other posts with a less traumatic solution.
