    Exclamation Help with spam and killed messages

    Help! I can see in the Zimbra Admin console that Zimbra does some spam filtering. But, if an email gets killed, is it stored somewhere that I could choose to release that mail and let it be delivered? I'm wondering if we're getting some items knocked as false positives and killed. These are important emails and users are getting grouchy!

    Zimbra 5.0.6.

    Any email that is above the Kill percentage will be removed from the system (it will be spam, believe me), anything that is above the Tag percentage will end up in the Junk folder. You should get the users to check the Junk folder for any false positives and if the find any, highlight the message(s) and hit the Not Junk button - it's important to do that so they don't get recogmised as spam in future.

    Is there any way to add email addresses to a white list just to be sure? I'd prefer a bit more control over the spam rather than just trusting the Zimbra to run it blindly.

    You're not likely to need a whitelist unless you've had problems with the sending user/domain but you can certainly add them to a whitelist - have a read of this wiki article.

    Great...now how about building that into the admin interface so people aren't having to modify the actual Zimbra program? Not everyone is fluent in Linux.

    Besides, we don't know if we're having issues with certain senders...there's no where to check and see if the mail is even getting here!

    Feature requests go in bugzilla, and vote on anything that's already there:whitelist

    The best you can hope for is to check the log files and see if the message went out of Zimbra and was accepted by the remote server. If you're bothered about incoming mail then the logs will tell you if it was accepted and delivered to the mailbox.

    Great...you still have to be fluent in Linux to get any of that done though.

    In the logs, would incoming mail show as "adding message" and "delivering message"??

    Why do you have to be fluent in Linux to open a text file? Install webmin and look at the logs via a module in that.

    Are they in the deferred queue or any other queues? Is this only one user experiencing this problem or more than one? Is this only from one particular sender or many? Which operating system & version of Zimbra is this? Please update your profile with the output of the following command:

    We ended up finding that the whole problem stems from emails getting rejected on our end because of a bad senders' domain. In fact, we're running into that a LOT. Never happened previously because we were running Exchange 2000. So, we're trying to figure out the best long term solution.
