Manage administration, upgrade, patching, and monitoring efforts in support of Zimbra email system running on the RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system. Design, propose and implement key infrastructure, configurations, and solutions based on the Zimbra Collaboration Suite. The Director will work very closely with Software Development, and Support groups to meet business and technical demands. Mentor, train and guide Linux administrators on staff.
Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and monitoring of customer facing enterprise class Zimbra email systems.
Work closely with Zimbra application support to maintain up-to-date patch level and Zimbra specific feature configuration.
Responsible for functionality of Mail, MTA, LDAP, and Proxy servers in Zimbra environment.
Define and implement resource monitoring, performance tuning, and scaling of infrastructure as needed.
Keep abreast of latest changes and feature availability for Linux, email/webmail, and Zimbra application.
Define and manage the configuration, monitoring, and physical storage and filesystems.
Define and document Linux configurations and procedures, participate in environment planning meetings, and communicate environment requirements to higher level management.
Provide guidance for hardware and software installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting of OS, email and web based applications.
Experience managing email system with 500,000+ mailboxes.
Bachelors degree in MIS, CS or related discipline.
Management of projects and personnel
10 years experience with RHEL, CentOS, or Fedora system administration in an enterprise environment.
Enterprise Technologies (NFS, Kickstart procedures, performance tuning, mail, security).
RPM repository and distribution administrative tasks.
Management and troubleshooting of Zimbra, Sendmail, Postfix, or similar mail server.
Internet server protocols and utilities (DNS, SMTP, POP, IMAP, HTTP/S, TLS, S/FTP, TCP/IP, SSH, iptables).
Troubleshooting and problem solving skills with little supervision (email, network, hardware, OS).
Ability to successfully handle the completion of multiple concurrent assignments or related support mechanisms for escalation/resolution purposes.
Understanding of cluster configurations and concepts, shell scripting performance tuning and database administration is a plus.
SAN/NAS storage solutions.
Database experience helpful.
LDAP/OpenLDAP configuration and support helpful.
Enterprise backup solutions.
OS and/or software based clustering.
Security hardening and monitoring.
Knowledge of java script, Python other scripting or programming.
