smtp port problem
I installed Zimbra desktop (windows) yesterday.
My hosting company uses port 225 for outgoing mail / SMTP
Zimbra comes up with an error saying 'some values are incorrect' and i had to resort back to port 25.
The reason they use port 225 aswell as 25 is some internet ISPs here block 25. So if i go to a customer and use their wifi, its quite common that under port 25 i can't send mail.
Is this a bug or am i doing something wrong?
Welcome to the forums :)
See if this helps Zimbra Desktop - Zimbra :: Wiki

or am i reading that completely wrong? (9.40 in the morning, brain is yet to warm up!)
We do allow changing ports to anything you want. When you see "some values are incorrect", are there any field highlight in red? You can send us a screenshot of the error as well. Thanks!

Zimbra is on a laptop which is currently at home and no vnc.
When i get back i will take a screen shot for you.
No fields were in red, but it would only save/accept when i changed back to port 25
Sorry i have been away for a while.
here is a screen cap for you http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/1957/44648284fu3.jpg
I have also noticed that account type changes to IMAP4 even though i before i clicked on save it was POP3
Ah, much better. It looks like a bug. Could you file a bug with the screenshot? Thanks for catching this!
no problem, where do i log the bug:o? do your have an url?
-create an account
-then when your setup make a new new bug > zcs > component: desktop, severity: minor, summary: "offline - error when using non-standard smtp port", fill out the description > submit & you can then create an attachment for the picture after you file.
