    Default Zimbra Desktop phone Home?

java.com.install4j.runtime.Launcher accesses over again to the internet, also if Zimbra Desktop App is not running! (Mac OS X 10.5.2)

For what and what is he?

    Regards,

    Welcome to the forums.

Zimbra Desktop is a mail client that checks a remote server for new mail, would that be the clue?

    That could it be.
I would it not, if the application is not running!
    Can this switched off?

I've noticed this, too. Even when I close ZD the zdesktop.exe process remains in memory and continue to access "something" on the internet. zdesktop.exe can be killed via task manager...

Edit: removed mention of a process that was not related to ZD.

The 'something' you mention is the background process checking for new mail on the servers you specified.

BTW, the process sends no information anywhere apart from the servers it checks. It's a fully open source package and you can check the source code for your own peace of mind.

    Many thanks for your answers.

No, i can't check because i have not the knowledge.
I find, if i quit the application, nothing more has to run!

I wasn't worried about it sending information somewhere unwanted. Just was curious why closing the application didn't halt the internet activity. I see now that there is a ZD service which I hadn't taken note of before. Maybe there should be a tray icon for the service to allow for starting and stopping it?

Edit: Another note - zdesktop.exe is really the service while prism.exe is the UI (when it's running)? This is kind of confusing since when you try to find out what prism.exe is the first thing that comes up is related to Cox High Speed Internet Software It wasn't until I did a search for the file and found it in the zimbra folder tree that I put 2 and 2 together
