Question Launching standalone UI for Zimbra Desktop on Solaris/x86

    Hello everyone,

I am porting Zimbra Desktop onto Solaris/x86 and had a doubt concerning bringing up standalone UI for Zimbra Desktop using Mozilla Prism!

I downloaded the Mozilla Prism. However, there are no build steps available and am stuck with creating an installer for it! Can someone help me figure whats to be done to configure Prism along with Zimbra Desktop to bring up the standalone UI. How to generate Prism Installer for Solaris and which all configuration files need to be changed to point out to the Solaris Prism Installer?

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Regards,
    Manisha Birajdar

if you are running on any x86 based unix that is not linux, your best bet is not to use prism. Use a browser like firefox instead. That's because the prism we ship with zdesktop has been customized to work specifically for running zdesktop. So a stock version of prism you download won't be the same anyway.

    @ jjzhuang
Thanks for the input. I need to simulate the linux zdesktop look and feel, can I port the customized linux prism for zdesktop on Solaris 10? and where can I find its customized source code?

Zimbra Devs!! I am almost done with Zimbra Desktop on Solaris 10. I have all of the separately. Prism compiled separately and 'Offline' (reset-the-world) separately and able to launch the Zimbra Desktop on my system.
What is the 'target' to compile the installer (I tried 'make-install-files')? Or if it is in multiple steps, what would they be? Thanks.

Look at interaller-ant.xml. You need install4j software 4.1.3.

Thanks a lot. If in case I want to explore other possibilities than install4j, say a simple, Unix package or even a tarball, what are required. I know there are some database initializations and other setup work needs to be done. Where can I find about these configuration tasks to get Offline working? Thanks again.

there are too many things to cover. you'll have to look at the code.
