Default ZD2 hanging on most startups

    Hi,

I am running ZD2 on Ubuntu 10.10 x64, and I have a real issue with getting ZD to start up consistently.

More often than not, I will launch the client and will see the splash screen with the spinning red dots (screenshot attached), but it will not go any further. The log files (attached) indicate no errors, and all I can do is close it down and try to reopen it. Sometimes this works, sometimes not.

Does anyone else have this problem, and/or a suggested fix?

    Many thanks
    Matt

    Default Same proble,

I'm having a similar problem on ubuntu 10.10 32 bit.

When I try to launch either from desktop or shell it hangs and then gives me an error:

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

    Script: file:///opt/zimbra/zdesktop/linux/prism/components/ForceOnline.js:180

Not sure where the logs are but if you can point me in the direction I can get them for you.

The application never starts for me

Also much less importantly The desktop icon is blank. How can I change the icon?

    Thanks

    Default Also hanging here

And also using Ubuntu 10.10 64bits, but the problem was exactly the same with 10.04 LTS 64bits. More than 50% of ZD startups are failing that way.

On a 32bit 10.10, startups appears to be more consistent however (but still rather slow).

Wow! More than 50% is a lot.

Is there a fix for it?

few days ago I installed zd2 final and until today it always started straight.
    now, last run, blank page.

so far never had a look into logs to see what happens...

Has some one filed a bug report for it? It won't get fixed otherwise.

Mmmh ... do Zimbra developers or product managers, etc. do not read this forum?

If that's a general problem or a bug IMHO zimbra employees should better filed such issues in the proper channels.

They are the only ones who can decide on that. They have the overview of the product capabilitys, the development roadmap, reported problems, user feedbacks, etc.

For me that would make much more sense.

    Regards...

Bugs are for bugs, forums are for discussions. Not all the discussions here are real bugs.

Some bugs may be filed by zimbra itself, but not all. So, in case nobody else did...

Whether they do or not isn't the point, these forums are Community support forums and people that post on here do so in their spare time.

Oh really, you think they don't have enough to do already?

The correct place to file enhancement request and bug reports is in bugzilla, that will get the attention of the developers and not posting a 'why not include' in these forums. When you file a entry in bugzilla it will get reviewed and a decision will be made on whether it's a valid request, whether it's possible and what the possible timeline might be for implementation etc. You as the user are the one that knows whether a feature is important to you, make your case in bugzilla and see how you get on.

    Yes, I'm sure it does.

Users are encouraged to file entries in bugzilla so feel free to add your entries to suit your needs.
