Do you mean, what does ZD need to operate, or what would a person need that would lead them to use ZD ?

Any particular other products that you refer to?

i meant that ZD needs some options to be more efficient. there are other free products that have more features than the ZD.

The problem with your original question, as far as I see it, is that the answer depends on what features you 'want' and what you're comparing it to - neither of which have been mentioned.

Well, my answer above also applies to this statement. If you think it needs more 'features' then feel free to file any RFEs in bugzilla that you feel are appropriate, that would get the attention of developers.

That requires Activesync (a proprietary protocol licensed from Microsoft), that means it would have to be a non-free product. Is Outlook a free product?

I see the Zimbra Desktop as a replacement for Outlook. Why would you want to sync between ZD and Outlook? OTOH, I can see syncing with mobile phones, but as Phoenix pointed out, we are talking about a free product here. A lot of times syncing is more of an email server thing than a email client thing, unless you are talking about hooking a cradle up to your PC or something like that.

One thing my users keep asking for is for Zimbra to support Windows' "Send to -> Mail Recipient" and MS Office "Send" functionality. In other words, some desktop MAPI support. My hope is one day Zimbra, or more likely Zimbra Desktop, can implement this.

Oh, I absolutely agree with you here. This is number one, by far, on my list of missing functionality with the ZWC and ZD. I've pretty much given up hope of getting it with the ZWC, but I hope to see it soon with ZD. Check out bug 37462. It was supposed to be a drop-dead requirement for ZD 2.0, but I guess they just couldn't meet the deadline.

Thanks - I've added my vote for that bug.
