    Yes.

Why would you want to do that when IMAP is a better email experience than POP3?

I am worried about the stress of the server. I had a bad experience with Thunderbird and it wasn't downloading the messages all the way and kept engaging the server. Will Zimbra be better? Please advise.

Once you have downloaded the email via IMAP it will only synchronise the changes you make to your local ZD or whatever changes you make via any web interface to your mail server. There will be an initial download of all your email to ZD, as I mentioned above. I can't say what the traffic will do to your server as I've no idea what it is.

So there will always be a hard copy on the local drive even when IMAP isn't synced and offline?

Yes, that's the whole pint of ZD - it's an offline email client.

Thanks Bill! So just to clarify, I will need to reset Zimbra and then resync using IMAP, correct?

There is no limitation set on Zimbra for the amount of email space is there?

For example; If I had 20GB of emails Zimbra wouldn't crash would it?

Just delete the account and creat a new IMAP one.

    No, only your HD space.

There's no reason why it should, the code is based on the Zimbra server code and that handles many more mailboxes and much larger ones as well. As with everything in life, I can't guarantee what will happen on your machine but I wouldn't expect it to cause any problems.
