Server: Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS 64-bit; Zimbra 7.1.4_GA_2555 (Will likely upgrade to v7.2 this weekend)
Client: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit laptop running Zimbra Desktop 7.1.4 GA (build 11299)
Since upgrading to ZD7.1.4, about every other day when I start ZD in the morning, the interface opens up listing the mails in my Inbox but then it just sits there spinning its wheels, eventually producing error messages to the effect "Cannot connect to server -- EMPTY_RESPONSE". So I shut down ZD and fire up the web interface, which proceeds to function instantly and perfectly.
About 25% of the time, if I then try again with ZD, it will work fine. Almost as if we're dealing with a sticky gate, and using the web interface has given it a shot of WD40.
Another 25% of the time, ZD works normally if I restart the computer.
But 50% of the time, ZD will not get over the EMPTY_RESPONSE business at all ... until I try again the next day.
Any idea what might be going on? And how to fix it? This is not at all like the Zimbra Desktop I have grown to know and love. It's always been so reliable in the past.
