    Default "Couldn't access Zimbra Desktop server..." / OS X 10.8.2 / zdesktop_7_2_1...dmg

    zdesktop_7_2_1_ga_b11637_20120906070328_macos_inte l.dmg
    OS X 10.8.2

    I have used Zimbra Desktop successfully on Snow Leopard for some time.

    After a fresh installation (not an upgrade) of Mountain Lion, I did a fresh installation of Zimbra Desktop.

    After some time trying to start up, I get an error message dialog box that states:

    "Couldn't access Zimbra Desktop server. If issue persists after reinstall, please check logs for errors and report to http://www.zimbra.com/forums/zimbra-desktop."

    Log file "~/Library/Zimbra Desktop/log/zdesktop.out" states:

    Found JAVA=/usr/bin/java in JAVA_HOME=/usr/bin
    JETTY_HOME = /Applications/Zimbra Desktop/jetty
    JETTY_RUN = /Users/jeickemeyer/Library/Zimbra Desktop/log
    JETTY_PID = /Users/jeickemeyer/Library/Zimbra Desktop/log/zdesktop.pid
    JETTY_CONSOLE = /Users/jeickemeyer/Library/Zimbra Desktop/log/zdesktop.out

    Stale pid file removed: /Users/jeickemeyer/Library/Zimbra Desktop/log/zdesktop.pid
    STARTED Jetty Mon Nov 5 09:51:26 PST 2012
    Jetty running pid=840
    Error: This Java instance does not support a 32-bit JVM.
    Please install the desired version.

    I tried the suggestion at "http://www.zimbra.com/forums/installation-help/58119-apple-mountain-lion-support-no-java-32bit-anymore.html" (line 280, not line 480), but it still wasn't happy.

    Any suggestions? Many thanks...

    I get this exact error everytime I restart my mac, I have to re install Zimbra then it works fine. But's it's never open correctly after a restart.

    Alas, even reinstalling doesn't help for me. I can't get it to run at all...

    I have the same problem with Mountain Lion and for me a reinstallation also did not help.
    Is there any solution so far?

    Nope.

    I've had this problem on my "loaner" machine, and my original machine has just (finally) come back from the shop. Zimbra used to run on that machine (with Snow Leopard). I'm going to try installing Zimbra on Mountain Lion on that machine, and see if I obtain a happier result or not...
