    Default Can't get Zimbra Desktop (7.2.1) to Open on MAC OSX 10.8.2

    Hello, does anybody have any good ideas on how to get Zimbra Desktop to start on MAC running OSX 10.8..2?

    The installation completed without any issues and when I try to launch the program nothing starts. I've tried to delete, reinstall, close all programs, reinstall, etc and not having any luck.

    Is there a zimbra log that I can look at that will give me some idea why it will not start?

    - Shayne

    I had ZD running just fine up until this week. I have an MB Pro running OS X 10.8.2 and ZD v 7.2.1. All of a sudden after launching, ZD hangs at the gray screen stating that it is "Loading..." Could this be related to Java? Thanks!

    @seichler - what is the Zimbra Desktop log showing?

    reference: Zimbra Desktop 2 FAQ - Zimbra :: Wiki
    View the file /Users/[username]/Library/Zimbra Desktop/log/zdesktop.log - the end of the log should show the error.

    Also, be sure to try rebooting your system. Sqlite can sometimes have dangling locks that can only be cleared on reboot.

    I can find no such log file or file location in Mountain Lion OS X v10.8.2; even when searching the hard drive. I have rebooted, run Disk Utility for permissions, and reset pram's. All to no avail.

    You should either use a terminal/console session, or enable the ability to View Hidden Files in the Finder on Mac.

    Viewing hidden files on a Mac - Mac Guides
    $ defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true

    The log file should really be there.

    Okay found file....not seeing much in the way of errors...but there is a lot of line items to really be sure...there is certainly no error at the end of the log. When I scroll through the log I do see some kind of error which I think is specifically related to the calendar??? When I launch ZD and watch the log, at the point that it hangs there does not appear to be any error. I received an email reply via VMWare that has indicated that ZD is at "End of Life." What does this mean for having an email client application (as opposed to WebMail) that works?

    Please run these commands and post any notable output:

    $ tail -20 zdesktop.out
    $ grep ERR zdesktop.log

    Regarding Zimbra Desktop EOL, this is ground well covered here:

    From Terminal, results are as follows:

    Steven-MBPro:~ steveneichler$ tail -20 zdesktop.out
    tail: zdesktop.out: No such file or directory
    Steven-MBPro:~ steveneichler$ grep ERR zdesktop.log
    grep: zdesktop.log: No such file or directory
    Steven-MBPro:~ steveneichler$

    You would need to please perform those actions on the log file locations:

    $ cd ~/Library/Zimbra\ Desktop/log
    $ tail -20 zdesktop.out
    $ grep ERR zdesktop.log

    Thank you for the clarification; I figured there was a change of directory but didn't know what it was. Anyway here are the results of those two actions:

    Steven-MBPro:~ steveneichler$ cd ~/Library/Zimbra\ Desktop/log
